Straight from the intro “Turbulensi Dimensi Hitam”, the Indonesian death-grinding machine Dead Vertical´s tight grinding is hard to stop. It’s not easy to miss “Tunggal Bertarung”, a furious track armed with awesome groovy guitar riffs, reminiscent of the best parts of Napalm Death’s Harmony Corruption album. Those guitar patterns are also present on other tracks, through “Hidup Tak Bernyawa” for example.

Inheritors is like a bunch of young people who were born too late and fell desperately in love with 80’s thrash metal. They have to be in 1986 – era when The Big Four and Bay Area music scene reached its peak. At a first glance, they might be stuck there too indiscriminately. Inheritors is the new band in Malang’s metal circuit which recently released an EP containing five songs. Their compositions are pretty awesome and full of energy. Although, admittedly, there are still many pieces of classic riffs and beats tucked in here and there, taken from Slayer, Exodus, Metallica and Megadeth. Yeah, it’s still hard to find the ‘originalities’ of an upcoming thrash metal band that already has decided to be ‘old-school’. It seems like this band must explore and try more harder.
