Thrashpit – Perpetual Malice

Label: Undying Music
Album Rating: 4/5

Undying Music discovers the talents of defiance through five youngsters who got lost in the path of thrash metal. Thrashpit barks through song after song on his debut, entitled Perpetual Malice.

They strike glamorous thrashy riffs on “Circle of Poverty” and “Study Hard!” for a guaranteed massive headbanging parade. Keep singing-along on “Mass Propaganda” and you will get more fists in the air.

Thrashpit also has a sharp context in the themes and lyrics. “F.T.W” denies any sentence from millionaire motivational speakers and against boring advices from teachers or parents; “‘Gather yourself up’ / ‘Set Your Mind Straight’ / They keep telling you for what you ate / ‘Listen to this’ and ‘listen to that’ / Otherwise you fail my guide.”

Consider “Let Me Rot, Let Me Live” to condemn a meaningless television entertainment program which merely pursues the tv-ratings alone; “Taste of provocative temptation / Ignoring social norm violation / Television’s polluting our vision / The Nielsen’s stats / Caught the heart of the nation.” A coversong of “Honey Bucket” (Melvins) is fairly attractive option and beyond any prediction of thrash metal bands over here.

Well, almost all of their songs sounds catchy and moshpit friendly. Musically, Perpetual Malice is already safe and secure. But the vocal department still needs a little more energy and power – to sound more fierce and loud. The sound production is clear and sharp and remind us of Testament’s The Gathering or some thrash revivalist albums in the 2000’s era.

Old-school thrash formula may often sound typical and generic, but Thrashpit is able to design the characters of their own music further. Until this, Thrashpit is successfull enough to connect the word ‘thrash’ and ‘pit’ into one good package of terror and pleasure. Get thrashed, or die trying!…

Your Mind Straight’ / They keep telling you for what you ate / ‘Listen to this’ and ‘listen to that’ / Otherwise you fail my guide.”

Simak juga “Let Me Rot, Let Me Live” yang tegas mengecam program hiburan televisi tanpa makna dan sekedar mengejar rating semata; “Taste of provocative temptation / Ignoring social norm violation / Television’s polluting our vision / The Nielsen’s stats / Caught the heart of nation.”

Get thrashed, or die trying!…
